(Yet another dispatch from our FSM correspondent)Boing Boing: Reader mail du jour: "Flying spaghetti monster my butt."The thing I love about zealots is their total inability to communicate. Somehow they've learned that REALLY IMPORTANT THINGS HAVE TO BE WRITTEN IN CAPITALS - which is true, kinda. Sadly being zealots, they never learned discretion, moderation....common sense. Consequently they WRITE ENTIRE MESSAGES IN CAPITALS which - as any usability professional will tell you - makes them completely unreadable. Thank you God for making your biggest fans such utter morons. Now if you could just give them a sense of humour the rest of us could get on with our lives... Labels: fsm

FSM Update - Unsurprisingly the twats on the Kansas Board of Education, having severed all connection with the real world, have decided to indoctrinate their children with similar delusions and teach Intelligent Design in their schools. So, before the thought police come for us, let's celebrate the return of the Dark Ages with (probably) the last of the FSM link digests (keep banging the rocks together Kansas!) For those of you just joining us - the definitive story so far: Flying Spaghetti Monsterism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaHere's a little more background - Boing Boing: Pastafarianism: Flying Spaghetti Monster cult grows Boing Boing is also one of the donors behind the $250,000 USD challenge, payable to any individual who can produce evidence proving that Jesus is not the son of the Flying Spaghetti Monster In the beginning there was the Flying Spaghetti Monster: "Meanwhile, true believers can now order souvenirs from the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster website, including T-shirts from $13.99 (£7.50), a coffee mug and a car bumper sticker. Mr Henderson says the proceeds may be used to fund the campaign or, in the best tradition of dubious cult leaders, to buy a yacht that he has long fancied. If the sales really take off, it may also help him avoid having to take up his only job offer so far since leaving Oregon State University - programming slot machines in Las Vegas. Other recent developments include the discovery of a toasted cheese sandwich miraculously bearing the image of His Noodliness that sold for $41 (£22) in an eBay auction and a hymn whose tune at least will be familiar to members of the Women's Institute or England cricket fans. The chorus runs: 'Bring me my bowl of pasta gold!
Bring me my meatballs of desire!
Bring me my sauce with herbs untold!
Bring me my bolognese of fire!'"For the creative amongst us: Learn to Make A Flying Spaghetti Monster Brooch HereOrigin of Noodleous doubleous- the miracle of the pasta The Pesto ManifestoFSM on Metro on Flickr - I don't condone graffitti but in this case.... Labels: fsm

I'm just so chuffed that I jumped on this meme wagon right back when it was born rather than when it had been Metafiltered and Boing Boinged to death. Firstly, here's the original Open Letter. Since then a cult has been spawned and I've decided that I'm a pastafarian! FLYING SPAGHETTI MONSTER - THE GAME - play the game... FSM Video - see the movie... Flying Spaghetti Monster Shop - and BUY THE T-SHIRT! If you're wondering what this is all about, this provides a fairly comprehensive explanation: Touched by His Noodly AppendageThere's even FSM porn (and the costume was up for sale the next day on Ebay. As an added attraction for geeks the sellers pointed out that it had actually been worn by a girl. And she was NAKED too! I don't know how the sale went but since by that time most of their potential buyers had either fainted or were bidding one-handed, I suspect their sales pitch had backfired) And it's a world wide phenomenon as witnessed by Las penas del Agente Smith » Múltiples apariciones del Flying Spaghetti Monster - this reminds me of the joke where Jesus wraps up a session talking to some hapless random with the comment "Must dash, I have to appear on a peice of toast in a Red State this afternoon" WHY YOU SHOULD CONVERT TO FLYING SPAGHETTI MONSTERISM * Flimsy moral standards. * Every friday is a relgious holiday. If your work/school objects to that, demand your religious beliefs are respected and threaten to call the ACLU. * Our heaven is WAY better. We've got a Stripper Factory AND a Beer Volcano. So having considered all this, I've decided that this is the only kind of Intelligent Design I can get behind. Now ask yourself, WWFSMD? Labels: fsm, meme

I for one welcome our Flying Spaghetti Monster overlords... Update - However, if you've read the above link you'll understand why the concept of 'Intelligent design' is rather undermined when the same people can come up with this: Labels: fsm
