Thought du jour: I guess for those of you who are looking for the requisite moral in "Star Trek - Nemesis" I suppose it would be: "Always back up your Data."

It appears that someone in Copenhagen has an unacceptably sick sense of humour:

Police Shoot Teddy at Jehovah's Witness Hall
Fri Jan 24, 8:14 AM ET

COPENHAGEN (Reuters) - A Danish bomb squad shot to pieces a teddy bear left on the doorstep of a Jehovah's Witness hall on Thursday evening with a note saying it contained a bomb, police said.

A group of Jehovah's Witnesses on their way into a meeting had found the cuddly toy with a note reading: "If you touch me I will blow up. I am a bomb."

Police told the 80 Jehovah's Witnesses to leave the hall in a quiet suburb six miles northwest of Copenhagen, and closed off the surrounding area to traffic.

A bomb-disposal robot then approached the bear. "The bomb unit fired two shots at the teddy bear and there was no reaction. There is nothing that indicates that there actually was a bomb," a Copenhagen police duty officer told Reuters.

Police said they were trying to establish who was responsible for the hoax.

Quote du jour:

PETA president Ingrid Newkirk has commented on a group that's petitioning the IRS to review or revoke the tax-free status of PETA. This group claims PETA supports terrorist activities.

Newkirk said, "Since most hunters and trappers shoot animals because they are too stupid to play chess or bridge, we rejoice that at least the sheer intellectual challenge of signing their names on this meaningless petition keeps them out of the woods for a while."

LEGO Studios Screening Room - The Han Solo Affair - I've never before seen a slapstick comedy chase done with lego figures (and no dialogue!). Technically brilliant and also very funny.

The MegaPenny Project | MegaMoo - the main site does scale images of what a thousand, million etc penies look like when sat next to some famous US landmarks to get an idea of the size. However, this section appeals to me more.

It does the same with Cows...

The Miniature Earth - a statistically updated version of "If the World population were only 100 people..." (done, rather poetically, in Flash)

Oh - and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
