First Names and What They Mean - apparently Carol means "Warrior Woman "
Actually that was the definition for Brunhilda - but it got your attention didn't it?

"The Museum of Bad Art is a community-based, private institution dedicated to the collection, preservation, exhibition and celebration of bad art in all its forms and in all its glory." Where else could you find the world's first drive thu art gallery and car wash?

Animals on the Underground - I've travelled on the Tube almost every day of my working life. However, when loking at the Tube map I have never once let my mind drift to this extent.
Wish I had though...

12 reasons why gay people should not be allowed to get married
1. Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control.
2. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people can't legally get married because the world needs more children.
3. Obviously, gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if Gay marriage is allowed, since Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.
5. Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are property, blacks can't marry whites, and divorce is illegal.
6. Gay marriage should be decided by people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of the minorities.
7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.
8. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
10. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise children.
11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to things like cars or longer lifespan.
12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages for gays and lesbians will.

Bush Yoga - twisted little concept that warmed the very cockles of my heart. Also has a totally deranged re-edit of last year's State of the Union Speech - hard to tell if some parts are edits or just Freudian slips....

American Memory - fascinating collection from those nice people at the Library of Congress. I do like the American notion that since their history belongs to all citizens, they should all be able to acess it. This site offers more than 7 million historical and cultural digital items from more than 100 historical collections.

Sex and the City Scrapbook - very nicely designed microcite linking in to pages on the main HBO site. Normally sites like this are a bit of superfical fluff put together from the equally superfical press releases. However, this one has quite an impressive depth of information - you'd almost think a fan had built it!
I was so impressed that that I'm including it here despite the fact that it broke my golden rule - you can't turn the music off.

Paint Game - this is for anyone who is fed up with the pretentious names that paint companies give their products. It's very simple: just guess the correct colour for each name by picking from the colour palette.
[ Hint: it's a safe bet that "Matian Skies" won't be a shade of Green]

Map of John Snow's London in 1859 - the Epidemiology dept at UCLA have got a copy of Reynold's Map of London dated 1859 and have scanned it at an indecently high resolution. If you enjoyed the link I posted a few months back for the British Museum's exhibition on London 250 years ago, you'll enjoy this too.

Huge URL - in these days of database-driven websites, how can you expect anyone to take a link seriously if they can see it all at once in a browser's address bar?
Huge URL's unique "biggening/unbiggening" algorythm will transform even puny top-level domains into muscular URLs that go right off the page!
